MISTAKES YOU NEVER KNEW YOU MAKE AS A NEW EMPLOYEE

It’s really exciting to begin a new job. A new job certainly provides you the opportunity to beautify your new  identity and brand. Starting a new job usually begins with a lot of nerves and even pressure, be it your first job ever or a new position with your long time boss. As a starter, there are things that would sure be running through your mind; will I be able to adapt to the job ethics in time? Will I actually progress at my new role?.
As a new employee, you’re bound to make mistakes, so don’t assume yourself to be a failure. When you notice your mistakes, allow yourself to move on  quickly. Take your mistake moments as moments of learning. Below are those common mistakes you will likely fall prey to, so take note to avoid them.

1) Fear To Ask For Help: There will surely be things you would be able to handle yourself. But when you get to the point where you will need help, ask for help without fear. Proving your worth for the job as a new employee usually comes with pressure. This makes most new employees to feel asking for help makes them incompetent. In turn, when you ask for help, it will Damien kn your coworkers or even your teammates that you are very much capable of working with others.

2) Always Saying “I Know”: You convinced your interviewers and as well your employers that you’re intelligent enough to handle the job. But that doesn’t mean you should decline your coworkers offer for advice or even for help. There are situations where you’d get a particular advice more than once from different colleagues. You should simply say “thank you” when this situation comes. Even if you’re sick and tired of hearing it, simply showing appreciation would do you good.

3) Self-Isolation: Being new certainly tough, but try to combat the urge to keep to yourself. Socialization comes to play here. Be free to relate with your colleagues. Show friendly attitudes and make sure to try sharing your meals . This simple act of friendliness gives you a change of getting to know your colleagues better and quicker in an easy way. This also give you the confidence to approach any of your colleagues to seek help when the need arises. It is unavoidable to feel bad about how you will fit in quickly, but take your time to relate with your colleagues, introducing yourselves and getting to know their different  roles in the company.

4) Ignoring Company Cultures: Every company body have their own different  cultures. This culture can also be called the rules and regulations guiding very staff in the company. What’s the company’s calendar or time table for the day to day activities? The dress code ,arrival to work time, and also departure time. Some rules might seem negligible, but if you try to ignore the way things are done, you will stand out in a negative way. Every rule was given for a reason. If you have suggestions for any improvements, make sure to listen to how and why they’re being done they way they are.

5)Lateness: As it is known, lateness is a bad virtue. Lateness to an ordinary appointment or meeting with your friend or someone of an informal relationship is surely not going to be celebrated. How much more work?. Lateness to work, even as a new employee does not present you to be professional. Punctuality is what you should hold in high esteem. This is because professionals are always punctual. It should be a priority, as this helps you stand out positively. As a reliable and trustworthy person. Punctuality reveals that you respect your position and the company at large.
